Immortal Synn Machine Men Album Review

The first second of the first track of “Machine Men” was enough to take me back to the 90’s fantastic heavy metal days. As we all know, 90’s was the most creative period in heavy metal history. Not only in heavy metal actually, but also the most fruitful and productive period in hard rock, rock, death metal, progressive rock etc.. Briefly, we can say that the rock and the metal music became the world dominant at that time and even today, millions of people are still listening to those records more than today’s releases, and also, musicians are recording their albums with their huge influence. And Immortal Synn is one of those brilliant bands.

First of all, I want to meantion that these guys are carrying the 90’s spirit in their music. This is something that you cannot control or plan. Many musicians have tried so far, some of them succeeded and some failed. In my opinion “Machine Men” is an album of a good mixture of all rock/metal bands of 90’s. Metalheads who love and also missed those times, like me, will definitely enjoy listening to Machine Men.

I liked the recording quality in this album. Immortal Synn’s music is very dynamic, and this sound represents them excellently. Every instrument has a well-balanced sound. Drums are powerful and clean. Time to time it sounds Pantera-ish, and in some parts more like high-reverbed hard rock/rock drums. Guitars are massive. They also carry the same strategy with the drums, in some parts they are full attack, some parts more like hard rock. Vocals vary a lot. The vocalist Chase McClellan is understandibly changing the way he sings for every new song. He is a talented vocalist, hands down. And doing his job very well. He can scream, sing clean, distorted, metal, rock, and also have a high range in his voice. It is not easy to define the style of his way of singing. As a matter of fact, this definition also valid for Immortal Synn and Machine Men as well. I don’t like putting every music in a box with a heavy metal, rock, progressive rock label on it. I don’t believe these terms anymore. As all rock/metal music listeners will also know that these definitions don’t suit on any music lately. However, there is also a fact that Immortal Synn is still pursuing their own unique Immortal Synn sound.

Immortal Synn Machine Men Album Review

Machine Men is Immortal Synn’s second release. I have also listened to their previous album “Barfly“. Well, there are some similarities for sure, as well as some differences. In my opinion, previous album Barfly’s attitude is the biggest difference as we can also understand from the song titles; “Whiskey”, “So many chicks, so little time”, “Sexxx Friend”… And the second album song titles are more masculine and protest like Manowar’s, Pantera’s and Megadeth’s titles; “Liberty Rising”, “Metal and Blood”, “Strength”…

Ultimately, I enjoyed listening to Machine Men, and, I wish Immortal Synn good luck on their musical careers. They wrote beautiful old-fashioned songs and I am sure that they have good live performance as well. These songs are more like performance songs. Besides, Immortal Synn is still evolving to their own sound and style that they are lacking of. I believe that they need more time, and these talented musicians might bring something new to the metal scene in future. Thanks for reading.
