Algaroth is another powerful progressive death metal band I have discovered online about a month ago with their debut EP album; Awaken, which was released this year in January. The band is undoubtedly showing great potential with their musical ideas, decisions, progressive compositions, riffs, the atmosphere in their music and most importantly with their professionalism as an upcoming band. As I mention in my articles time to time that we usually don’t expect to see these high standards from upcoming bands. In this matter, these Australian gentlemen have rightfully earned their place in our blog.

The album; Awaken has a captivating dark and moody atmosphere in general. When you take a closer look at each song in the album, you’ll also see that nothing is too standard about it. They have successfully combined their inspirations, mostly doom, progressive and death metal, and offered the world this powerful statement about themselves. What I liked the most about this album were their fresh energy. Nothing is boring, nothing is too repetitive. They obviously didn’t follow anybody’s path in writing and building up their own music, which is admirable. There are so many unexpected things in each track that keeps your attention alive, where I believe they make the actual difference.

Technically, Awaken has great standards in every way. Everything sounds super dark, atmospheric, clear, very well balanced, mixed, polished and also in great harmony. I really liked the way the producer has done everything here. He certainly understood their potentials, their desires and created this magnificent sound. You might agree or disagree with this but honestly, I have listened to the latest Behemoth album and couldn’t feel this excitement that I feel while listening to this album. Besides their great musicianship skills and ideas, musically, they have successfully put everything they’ve had in their minds into the tape, which is fantastic indeed. After listening to Awaken a few times you’ll naturally want to hear more from these gentlemen. So when I take all these into account, I want to say that Awaken is an exceptional debut that they will be proud of all their lives. We are all well-impressed by the fresh feeling Algaroth has in their music, and our favorite track; Beg has rightfully earned its place in our TOP METAL SONGS playlist on Spotify. As I have mentioned earlier, we will be following these gentlemen from now on and you guys should do the same from the links below! STRONGLY RECOMMENDED TO THOSE WHO ARE LOOKING FOR FRESH BLOOD!
