Today, we are featuring a progressive post metal band; NUG, from UKRAINE. We have reviewed their song; Black Mass, along with its style, potential, story, recording quality, production rate and more.
Nug is another band that I have discovered about two months ago through Submithub with this song; Black Mass, off from their debut album; Dark Mass, released in 2018. It is a wonderful thing to see such upcoming bands with amazing sound and atmosphere. What I liked the most about Nug’s music was the dark moody atmosphere in their music. The producer Valentin Zhulenko knew what he was doing and created this amazing work. This is not a top class recording quality, but this is a top class production indeed. The band truly has a rich instrumentation in every section and the composition is not simple at all. There are many different and interesting musical ideas and moments in Black Mass. Great job.
I don’t know why but I really like how Slavian people think and feel about metal music. Metal suits them very well, and in my opinion, they create the most authentic stuff in metal together with Scandinavians. Ukraine is like my second nation and I know how depressive and dark everything looks in winter. This vibe gets to your spirit and soul in time. In Nug’s music, you can feel it. On the other hand, the band has a great potential, and this song is a very good example of it. They are super creative with composing and song building. Most of the time, artists are trying to be creative with only melodies but not with the energy flow or sections in the composition. In this very example, everything was done excellently. One cannot get bored of listening to music such as this one. Personally, I really liked what Nug has done with this debut album. And Nug is my another great discovery indeed!
In conclusion, we, as Metalhead Community Team, congratulate NUG for their fascinating song; Black Mass, and wish them the very best in their future. Thanks for reading.
