The thing that I liked the most about DESERT CHANT is actually also the unique characteristics of PARACUTA as well. The progressive partitions, unusual ideas (musically) and the successful combination of both minor and major vibes. When you start listening to DESERT CHANT, the intro is starting with a simple D minor chord arpeggio with F and C on the bass (If I am not mistaken). And then, very mysterious double vocal lines taking part and bringing the whole story to a completely different place.

Although this is Paracuta’s debut album, their sound, recording quality and production are professionally done. You might easily get confused about this is their first, or the tenth studio album. You might have thousands of interesting ideas, strange melodies or chord progressions. But this doesn’t mean that your song is going to satisfy you after finishing its recording on a professional recording studio. The recording process and the production are the two main pillars that carry the work. They need to have a good balance between them. A song with a bad recording quality simply means “bad product”. A song with a good recording quality with bad production also will fail its purpose and never bring you the feedback you deserve. When we take all these into account, Deserve Chant is rightfully earned a good mark from our team for its good recording quality, balance, and the production.

Another unique thing about Paracuta’s style (especially in Desert Chant) is that you never expect to hear these chord progressions from an alternative rock song. Alternative rock is briefly a dynamic music with lots of energy, bad sound, dirty guitar sounds, wild spirit, drugs and alcohol (I didn’t want to mention about the fact that alternative rock musicians are 99,9% copying each other’s music). Honestly, I have never been a big fan and I don’t think I am going to change my mind anytime soon or later. On the other hand, it is great to see that these gentlemen are trying to bring some new ideas to their sound and music. This is the point that I chose to consider them special. And one more thing, Desert Chant has reminded me of some Porcupine Tree songs as well. Recommended to all rock music fans who are looking for some fresh influences.
