Paul Maged is a name that I have discovered about couple days ago. After making a small research about the artist, his story and his music, my opinion has changed from negative to positive. In my opinion, he has a style that can only be understood by reading about him. Musically, The Glass River album is made of full protest lyrics with funny/goofy music and super creative compositions. The style is actually somewhere between alternative rock, punk, and classic rock. Lately, this specific genre with this contrast is becoming more and more popular. Personally, I don’t listen to this kind of music, but I have seen so many people who like to listen to it just because it’s fun, and it makes them feel better. Well, I respect that. If you believe music should be fun to listen to, you are in the right place.

The recording quality of The Glass River is satisfactory. I am not sure of this, but it sounds to me like it wasn’t produced by a professional. The album doesn’t have a characteristic sound in general. Every song has a different sound balancing, instrument sounds, mixing, and production. I am afraid, it is extremely difficult to make a difference with this kind of sound quality, especially in our modern age, where everything can be done on a single computer. I don’t want anybody to get me wrong here, these technical issues are important only for those who would like to be successful in professional arena. People who like this specific music, will listen to it anyways. And I am sure they will have a great time. Period.

Honestly, I’ve found Paul pretty creative in everything that he has done in The Glass River album. First of all, he has developed his own style, and none of the songs sound like each other, which is great in my view. He was creative enough to write many different musical ideas in many different vibes, and build interesting compositions with them. None of these elements are standard in his music. Also, Paul has super rich instrumentations in each of his songs. When I take all these into account, I wouldn’t say this is a bad introduction to his semi-professional musical career. He proved to himself, along with the world that he can write nonstandard songs in his specific style, which is the most valuable thing in art. Being authentic. We, Metalhead Community Team believe that, he can be very successful in the long run if he can find some professionals who will like his music and understand him.
