SCOREDATURA is another super special pick of ours, who we see as a great candidate to take part in guiding our most favorite music, metal music in future. As you can also see on their music videos, these guys are super professionals and also one of the very few “innovative” names among all metal bands. They have tried to bring many new ideas with their instrumentations, tempos, rhythms and compositions. This is certainly a very serious piece of work, hands down. I have had couple musician friends like them and they were writing music just like classical music compositors wrote back in time (not including the ones who were writing music on a note sheet). In my opinion, they have thought about their strengths and weaknesses before starting this project, and decided to shape everything with their strongest sides. And here we are, talking about one of the most promising instrumental/experimental progressive metal albums of 2018.

The recording quality and the production of Honest Oblivion album is excellent. This is a great example of modern recording techniques in technical/instrumental/progressive/djent metal field. Obviously, these gentlemen are super talented in writing, composing and also experienced in metal music. They know what they are doing, and this is their own idea about how it should be. Instead of following someone else’s path, or writing couple mainstream songs, they have decided to go with something that everybody will respect. Guitars sound strong, clean and extremely well balanced. Drums also sound natural and clean. You might remember from my previous articles that having natural sound is very important for me. The Scoredatura sound is grand, rich, unpredictable, confident, calm and also delicious with their super progressive sentences with no doubt.

SCOREDATURA Honest Oblivion Album Review

Almost all tracks in Honest Oblivion album has Scoredatura stamp on them. Some of them show similarities with each other, some of them don’t. But in the end, the result is the same, fascinating! I personally liked the whole album from the beginning to the end. As I have also mentioned above, I have respect for these special people, and our world needs more names like Scoredatura. They have written 9 super complicated compositions in this album, and I can understand how challenging it can be. Making time to write music among all our daily issues. This is just one of the reasons that we should show our full support to artists like them. Don’t forget that every single album/song you buy or stream is actually a vote for the future of our most favorite music. Eventually, I can easily say that Scoredatura has done an amazing job in Honest Oblivion. Not everybody can write compositions like these. Albums like these do not have an expiration date. Strongly recommended to all instrumental, progressive, djent music lovers and guitar players who are looking for inspirations!

Excellent, great band! A stunning rhythm section and a solo guitar! Guitarist’s cuts are always relevant and informative, in places in the spirit of Allan Holdsworth, Eric Johnson, Plini, but mostly himself. Yes, the influence of Mishuggah is felt, but the deep tones of the jazz-rock fusion are purely their own. This fresh stream of novelty in prog-metal will entice many true lovers of sophisticated, refined, meditative music.
