Shoma is another exciting/non-standard death metal band I have discovered through Metalhead Community Blog submissions about two weeks ago with this very song; The Ghost on the Inside, off from their You and Me Against the World album, which was released in 2019. Just like the previous band we have featured here on Metalhead Community blog, Shoma is also one of those names who is making a big difference with their understanding of music. As you will also hear on this powerful song, the band is showing a great potential with their song build, additional instrumentation, dynamics, dark moody atmosphere, non-standard musical ideas, and the harmony in their music. Shoma is not a regular death metal band. It is fantastic for me to hear these talented bands and artists, coming up with many different innovative ideas. The more I listen to bands and artists from the underground scene, just like on this example, the more I’m certain how big the potential actually is (much more interesting and exciting than the worldwide known metal scene for sure).
The Ghost on the Inside is a very successful piece of art. The song is immediately taking control of the listener with its captivating groove and pulls you to its mysterious world. The composition is mainly structured from the main riff, which played by all; guitars, bass, and keyboards. The most interesting thing for me here was the decisions of the composer. Just like a movie director who sometimes creates an amazing movie out of a very limited story. And in my book, this is where the magic happens.
