Sterile Jets No Gods No Loss Album Review

Sterile Jets No Gods No Loss Album Review

Sterile Jets is a trio from the heart of California, USA. Met each other by the strangest way possible, like we used to hear from the legendary bands such as Metallica, Motorhead, and Iron Maiden about how they formed up, back in the 80’s. I mean, how likely is to find “the guy” by just putting and ad on the Craigslist nowadays? After hitting the jackpot and merging with their ultimate bass player B.ILL, they have started their semi-professional musical careers by releasing their debut album; “The Liquor Store” in 2014.

Undoubtedly, the life itself is the weirdest thing. Spending hundreds of similar days just to find a meaning, the right vibration. Try to imagine a moment that we all stop for a second, look around and see what is really going on. We are so afraid, so scared of the reality, which is buried so deep inside even your nightmares, your subconscious are not able to reach and remind you about. This moment is where the first picture appears, and the movie begins along with the music; The Sterile Jets.

As I mentioned above, Sterile Jets has reached the deepest spot, the weirdest dimension in the space. They have gone further than Einstein’s relativity in physics so they seem like weirdos, just like people thought about Einstein back in the 1940s. Therefore, I don’t see any point of talking about the songs in “No Gods No Loss”, as a regular album from a regular band. Because it is not. It is the concept here, the idea. There is no right or wrong in music, as well as there is no wrong note, the wrong way to live or die, the right religion, politician, system or art. There is only this very moment, the image, and the music, and all the rest is relative.

At the same time, this specific sound in “No Gods No Loss” is most possibly the band’s personal preference. There is nothing bad about it. But the unbalanced sound definitely make it difficult to listen to. In my opinion, this is more like a technical issue. The unusual concept in their music is followed by their artworks, singing style of Robert Bly Moore (the vocalist), tempos, mixing, mastering and almost every element about the band. So it means that was the point. Sterile Jets is determined to show us, and tell us about the reality from their perspective. And it is bitter indeed.

Eventually, what Sterile Jets is actually trying to do might sound, and look like odd to you in our super standardized world. But I am sure, “No Gods No Loss” will reach to its faithful listeners along with the band, and find its well deserved moral value. Strongly recommended for those who are looking for something unusual, and for more than just music. Thank you for reading.
